Granny Bee's has good food and good service. The historical location is a great way to start the day. Get some food, then hit the visitor center and shops in the area. I preferred to go there when I could substitute the apples for gravy at breakfast, but the rules have changed. I'd give another star to get that great breakfast the way I liked it again. I can't give a 5th star until the Confederate stuff is off the walls.
MoreThe reviews and pictures don’t do this justice, especially with lunch. The staff was friendly and everything felt clean. It is a large enough restaurant that getting seated and getting served was quite quick. Parking was easy, too. The menu is priced so that people may afford to be a regular. We ordered sandwiches and chicken tenders, and we were each impressed with how fresh and flavorful these seemingly simple dishes were. We LOVED the side dishes! Our favorites were the beets and the tomatoes. You might be surprised at those being our favorites, but try them and tell me I’m wrong! We also ordered pie to go (oh, and homemade ice cream!!) and it was diviiine!! We got two to share with the whole family and they were a hit. If you want a whole pie, call them with a day’s notice if possible. We loved everything about our first Granny Bee’s experience!
MoreI had a good southern style breakfast at Granny Bees. I went across the street to the visitor center. I stepped into A beautiful 1890s railroad depot I was greeted by a friendly host who provided me with brochures of various attractions. They directed me across the street to Jefferson Galleries. This is the most unusual business I have ever been in. The outside has a huge carved south east Asian Statue. Inside was the largest collection of South East Asian antiques I have ever seen in one place. In the art deco bank fault was the worlds first space shuttle armI could go on and on about this unique treasure , but visit it yourself
MoreThe food was Ok. The onion rings were the best part. The hamburger steak was decent but the gravy they used was lumpy and seemed like it was from a jar. The mashed potatoes tasted like they are instant and the cornbread was just plain awful. I personally would never dine here again.
MoreGenerally very pleased here. Never had breakfast before. It was fine, but the potatoes were a bowl of grease. Otherwise, okay
MoreFood was good service friendly price decent
The liver & onions were the best I've had in AGES!!! My husband loved the potato soup &Grilled cheese😁 Yummy
MoreThis restaurant was so well worth finding. Our waitress was so polite and helpful in gaining directions to a battlefield. The food was delicious and so reasonably priced. It has the atmosphere of a simple and home cooked meal. Homemade rolls were the best rolls we have ever had. We didn't even know that we were receiving them. That's hospitality.
MoreGranny bees is even better than Good old fashioned home cookin! I stop every chance I get!
MoreI’m a little confused... I’m reading reviews about all this great home cooking but what I got there was mediocre canned food. I got the special of the day. Pork loin and two sides. The pork was tough and gravy lumpy, stewed tomatoes and turnip greens were not warm and obviously out of a can. The broccoli soup had a really off flavor and was plain at best. The bread pudding was decent although seemed to be straight out the microwave, nuclear hot in some areas cold in others. I was a little surprised by the $18 bill when it arrived. I do apologize to the waitress for only leaving a two dollar tip but I couldn’t bare to pay over $20 for a meal when it tasted like this and I left still a bit hungry.
MoreWas in the area for work, Granny Bees for breakfast for a week's was great! Would highly suggest the 2 eggs with 6oz ribeye. Exactly as ordered and the steak was how I like it. It would be a little fatty for some. Very good biscuits and gravy as well
MoreExtremely overpriced food seeing as how the green beans were obviously straight from the can and the very fatty steak seemed boiled and unseasoned. The only good things were the fries, but they were ruined by the cheap watery vinegar tasting ketchup. I honestly don't know how they are still in business. I will definitely not be going back. Paying $40 for 2 plates of food that were barely edible was ridiculous. If this is what passes for good homecooked meals around here, no wonder they lost the war. General Lee is rolling over in his grave, but not because he had to surrender. It's because he ate here first and his stomach is in knots.
MoreWe're just visiting from Richmond and Granny Bee's was recommended to us by our hosts. During the pandemic when carryout is really the best option when you go out to eat, the owner took her time with our order, preparing it with care. It was fresh and delicious. I had the chicken salad sandwich with onion rings. Onion rings...YUM!!!! Fresh, hot and absolutely delicious! My husband had their specialty: hamburger steak smothered in gravy and onions. Best he ever had! I don't think he stopped to breathe while eating it! We appreciate that during these uncertain times that a takeout order was as hot and fresh as a sit down meal at any other time. Great prices too! This will be a MUST for to come back to when we come to town again. Thanks Granny Bee's!!!
MoreLoved it. It was a small, hometown type of restaurant with excellent food
Great food, great prices, and fantastic wait staff!! One of our favorite places!
Wow! A cozy, inviting, perfect little place. The food is absolutely delectable. Smiling faces, down home feel, fair prices and fulfillment... all things you'll find here at Granny Bee's. You'll have to forgive me for the photo I shared of my "Brownie Delight".. I ate it before I could take a picture. I loved this place.
MoreGreat fried chicken need to go at lunch time for dinner time to get The best . They have lots of other good dishes
MoreService and food was great! Highly recommend this place to eat and will definitely go back! Thank you Granny B!
MoreYum! You got to try this place if you’re in Appomattox! Everyone here is exceptionally friendly and gives amazing service. They treat you like family! Thank you Granny Bee’s!
MoreNice local restaurant. Good food. Friendly service. Reasonably priced menu.
Ordered a grilled chicken salad and it was delicious. The grilled chicken would melt in your mouth. My sister had roast beef and it was also delicious. I would certainly go back.
MoreSo glad we found this place! Great service, great food. I would recommend to anyone going through this area.
MoreOk for what it is, generic homestyle food. Nothing special, but the service is really good as is the iced tea.
MoreLocal diner featuring home made southern food. Good eating. Chicken livers, corn pudding and potato salad.
MoreFast friendly but professional service in a casual home cooking diner. Salad bar looked good. Had the hamburger steak, onions, gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans. Very good. Also, triedthe rolls and cornbread. Both good.
MoreDefinitely not the home cooked food that it used to be
Nice place with excellent service and fairly priced food!
